BOB SYKES
Bob Sykes started martial arts at the age of 16 starting off with Karate (Wado-Ryu) and has been teaching martial arts in Huddersfield since he was 19 years old. He was the creator and editor of Martial Arts Illustrated which was the leading martial arts magazine in the UK for over 30 years. He had a successful career in Freestyle karate tournaments, moving on to fighting professionally in kickboxing, in this period Bob became a celebrity in the UK martial arts industry, and received a life time achievement award for his contribution to martial arts and changing thousands of peoples lives for the better.
At age 48 Bob had his last kickboxing match where he fought for the British kickboxing title which he won by 2nd round knockout, after this he announced his retirement. These days Bob is chief instructor at the Colne Valley Black Belt Academy where he specialises in teaching kids karate, adult karate, kickboxing, and Tai Chi Classes
OLIVER SYKES
Oliver Sykes has been training martial arts for 20 years starting officially at the age of 3years old. He is the son and has been coached under Bob Sykes. Following in his father’s footsteps Oliver has gone on to compete in every kickboxing association winning 6 British freestyle karate championships, European freestyle championships and won the title for being a world champion kickboxer.
As well as training hard he is teaching teenagers and adult kickboxing classes.
